It's almost like magic... the tides, planetary orbits, everything exists in a groovy balance. And it would all fly apart tomorrow if the inverse-square law didn't stay hard at work day in and day out to keep things right where they need to be.

In other words, you get a little bit farther away from something and the gravitational pull gets a WHOLE lot weaker. So the earth and moon tug each other just a little, not too much. It's nice.
