Clear writing makes a better world
I've been writing professionally since the mid-late 90s. Here are some things I've learned:
-
Human brains are built for connection and communication. Hold out your hand, and people will take it.
-
Clear writing empowers readers by making the world easier to navigate.
-
Understand your audience before anything else. People can tell whether you took the time to understand their situation and immediate needs.
-
The best business writing is so frictionless that it's nearly invisible. Often the goal is to help a reader feel like they intuitively know what to do, or to nudge them to take the next step.
-
Invisible doesn't mean you need to hide or muddy the truth. Transparency shows trust and respect. Even when there's bummer news, be clear, speak the truth, stay positive, and trust your readers to make good, informed decisions.
Taking all of this into account can feel like untangling an elaborate logic puzzle. Fortunately for you, I LOVE PUZZLES. My superpower is communicating complex information to different audiences. Contact me to talk about your project
