Imaginary Inventions (all ages, 4 - 6 week class)

This class is part drawing, part creative problem solving. Every week I introduce a new challenge with a (hilarious elaborate) backstory. Then the kids will spend some time brainstorming ideas for an invention that could help solve the problem. I provide BIG paper for their BIG ideas -- as well as markers, rulers, compasses, stencils and other tools to help them draw out their invention.

At the end of the class, parents and others are invited in to witness the amazing pitch meeting, where students present their problem-solving machine concepts.

This class might be the best thing I've ever come up with. It teaches:

Critical thinking

Planning

Brainstorming

Collaboration

Iteration and feedback

Presentation skills

Creativity

Writing and arithmetic

And it is 100% THE CUTEST.
